Treat discipline like a muscle
BUILD BAYBUH BUILD
So here are some things that I’m doing to start building up my discipline muscle that are already yielding huge results that are improving the quality of my life.
1. I stopped masturbating…. AGAIN
Yea go ahead and laugh and snicker because of the word “masturbate” but I’m serious, especially for those men out there that might read this. Masturbating is a waste of time especially if you find yourself addicted to it even if its to the point that you cannot get out of bed or go to sleep without spanking the old bald gopher. I had gone well over a year without touching my little big head, and I had never felt so complete and so capable of focusing and accomplishing goals. I was able to control myself.
2. I stopped smoking…. AGAIN
I’ve been smoking weed for at least 10 years and have spent a huge chunk of my life just self medicating certain things, whether it is depression, anxiety, boredom. Weed is a good thing for those it helps and a really nice social drug with very few bad effects. As much as I advocate for people smoking weed and having a good time, I also advocate for people taking their futures into their own hands and getting off their asses. The main problem with weed is that it makes doing nothing perfectly “Ok” Now if you compound that with 10,20,30 years you’d have noticed you would have wasted a lot of time and not done much of anything. My dad used to tell me that life is a competition and if you HAVE to smoke before you do anything, and you’re competing with someone who just gets up and does it, you’re going to lose every time. ALSO weed and cigarettes cost money, money that can be better spent on other things. Unless its paying you, you should probably cut back and use your time more wisely.
3. Set timers
Im not going to say go completely gungho and stop doing your favorite things. Im not even going to say this is what I did. If you like watching TV, go ahead and watch that tv my guy, you like playing video games?, go ahead play those games. However, do not lose an entire day to doing just that. Set a timer for like 30 minutes, then go play that game or whatever, when the time goes off, put down the controller and reset the timer and do 30 minutes of something else. Make it something productive, or something away from a screen or any other kind of stimulation.
4. I distanced myself from some of my friends/ completely cut some off
Look if you have a goal and people either doing the complete opposite of that goal, actively trying to pull you way from that goal or that discipline. LEAVE THEM ALONE RIGHT NOW. Or put them on hold. This is the fight of your life and you can’t allow people so close to you get you off your game. I hate it when I’m trying to not smoke cigarettes and then somebody offers me one with a devilish grin…….. Asshole
5. I Take one extra second to think things over.
So if someone does offer me that cigarette, or that drink, or if my hormones are raging and I really just need to banish the White Russian. I stop.
Breathe.
And think about my goal and how I am not going to relapse.
These are just 5 things that I do in my own imperfect way that I’m not trying to do
But I Actively am doing these things because the short- term satisfaction I get from relapsing, turns into depression and sorrow while I’m laying in a puddle of my own sperm, with a cigarette in my mouth , and the TV on and my pot head friends coming over further removing me from greatness.
You got this
You can do this
You HAVE to do this
For yourself
