Your strength is in your discipline brothers and sisters.

Alright hi there!

Wah gwan’

It’s been a little while since I began preaching about freedoms, and how to attain such freedoms. Not that I’ve stopped writing or anything completely! Oh heavens no!

I think I would probably just die if I didn’t write, and that’s one of the most honest things I’ve ever written.

So I took a little break from preaching the gospel of freedom, however the idea is still the same, the execution is always present in my mind, the landing however, is not always perfect. There are roadblocks that we all face in the pursuit of anything worthwhile that requires grit and discipline.

Notice I said discipline and not “MOTIVATION”

Motivation is the thing that people try to sell to you as a few snippets of a speaker or quotes intended to imbue the listener with some kind of willingness to do whatever it is they’ve been wanting to do.

Motivation is cool or whatever but what happens when you’ve been hardcore achieving all goals big and small, and then you suddenly run out of steam? What do you do when your motivation shifts into something else?

A good example being: When you were single you were MOTIVATED to exercise so you could get the girl. Then you fall out of shape and forget the world once you get the girl. You were motivated by something, then you got it, then you stopped trying. Then 5 years later you’re wondering what happened.

Discipline reigns SUPREME

Discipline is what the Marines have in spades

Discipline is what separates the greats from everybody who just tried hard and fizzled out

Discipline removes the need for you to FEEL like doing something and allows you to accomplish a goal, whether motivated or not, come rain or come shine.

Jesus had disciples and it is his DISCIPLES who spread his teaching from studying everything he did, and documenting every miracle. Sounds pretty close to discipline right? (Maybe its a stretch but I’m trying to make a point here)

Im not always motivated to write poems to post on medium, work on my second book, perform at open mics, busk in the streets of Detroit, or to eat the right foods and keep my manly physique, or to call people on their birthdays, or to take my dog out for a walk for an hour everyday. To be honest I dont feel like doing anything ever.

My favorite thing in the entire world to do is NOTHING!! And that’s not something to be proud of. Its the truth though. It’s a great detriment to my entire life. I mean… I want to be an all time great…. All-time greats have discipline.

I want to be one of those.

This is what you gotta do!
