Inanimate Woman (And Such And So)
Beside an Inanimate woman, time on the Metro spent.
Clad in white, your smile bright, my hand within your grasp,
Detached, we conversed of wintertime in France, love’s intent.
Moments fleeting, words superficial, time’s grip takes hold,
Years have drifted, yet pain’s memory bold.
I envision your smile, as I withdrew away,
A letter creased in hand, “Forever love” it told.
Beneath the Seine’s moonlit path, a night’s silent glide,
Metro’s motion echoes feelings, side by side.
A sensation overcame me, memory’s power in sway,
Inanimate gaze averted, emotions they can’t hide.
Once adored, now resented, love’s turmoil bore,
Through Metro’s journey, emotions battled, love’s score.
Solitary stance, shards of glass, life’s fragments amassed,
Four walls echo tales of time, shared love and more.
