3 Songs EP : A Sit Down with Darcy Nicole
Layer upon layer, upon layer, upon layer of sound. With each instrument played with calm proficiency Darcy Nicole let me sit in for her most recent recording session at Verno Jay Records (VJR) Afternoon of January 4th until late in the evening. The EP “Three Songs” is the first of many efforts to come from both transgender artist Darcy Nicole and the Eastpointe Studio. I saw it all, I saw the “Everything The Everything The Everything” from the mic set up to the mixing of the particular recipe. What’s in it you ask?

Every second of the punky emotion-driven playlist is imbued with a personal touch, love life experience, and a focused attitude that excited my lobes. Darcy Nicole is a soft-spoken tall glass of water whose hair was slicked back and black wearing flannel comfortably posing on a drum throne by no stretch of the imagination did she appear to have any difficulty layering each instrument starting with the drum 4 separate times. This girl scoffed at a metronome because she played by “Feel”. “ I think I’ll do some clean guitar, then I’ll do some bass, then I want to play some guitar should I use Fuzz or Marshall or Stank?… then I’ll put lyrics down.”

“I’m hyper-focused when I play……..” The amount of careful and accurate timing was like some kind of Ginjustu, raw talent, and supreme preparation. “ Talent………… I play by myself and try not to spend too much time on anything I get bored quickly’ “……….had an influence on me “
Darcy who you may catch at Turnstiles Bar, located in Grand Rapids informed me that she also has a death metal project known as Dearg-Due with new music being released as soon as tomorrow the 5th has also been a part of other projects including my three favorites: Last Page and (The band that inspired me to play music) The Stuckups (defunct), Sunny Smiles, and even yours truly A Love Supreme, and others. “Bro, Darcy has a more extensive discography than all of us.” Thinks A Love Supreme while writing this. Which honestly is the truth. This EP is about love lost and love yet to be acquired. Most of the album retreats only to come back in full force and later subside and then just like that, it's over. Time to hit replay.
She is transgender , yes, but that does not singularly defined as a Transgender Rocker, though it is deeply intertwined with her experience, it is far from the only way to describe her music, focus, and talent.

Darcy’s photographer came down and took pictures but did not ask me to disrobe or even show a man's chest, so I asked her did this upset her. She said, “YES IT DID, I wanted to see that!”
she would NOT fuck to her music because it would split her focus and she would not be interested in le fucking.
